Prior to Root Canal Therapy

• Eat breakfast/lunch as usual.  Avoiding caffeine is helpful.
• Continue taking all medications recommended by your physician. If you have a question, please call our office prior to your appointment.
• If your dentist or physician has prescribed pre-treatment antibiotic, please make sure to take this medication as directed.

After Root Canal Therapy

Eating

Avoid chewing on the treated side until it’s comfortable.

Pain Management

• Take 2-3 ibuprofen (600 mg) every 6 hours for pain.
• If unsuitable, take 1 Extra Strength Tylenol every 6 hours.
• For severe pain, combine 600 mg ibuprofen with 1 Extra Strength Tylenol every 6 hours.
