Before Endodontic Treatment
Prior to Root Canal Treatment
- Eating Prior to Your Appointment
Please eat a full breakfast or lunch before your procedure, depending on the time of your appointment. Avoiding caffeine is helpful.
. - Antibiotic Pre-Medication
If your physician or dentist has advised you to take antibiotics prior to dental procedures due to conditions such as mitral valve prolapse (MVP), heart murmur, joint replacement (e.g., hip or knee), cardiac or other prostheses, or rheumatic heart disease, please ensure you take the appropriate antibiotic on the day of your appointment. If you have any questions, feel free to call our office.
. - Medications
Continue taking all prescribed medications for conditions such as blood pressure, diabetes, or thyroid issues as directed by your physician. If you have any questions about your medications, please contact our office before your appointment.
. - Anesthesia and Post-Procedure Information
This procedure will be performed using local anesthesia. In most cases, there are no restrictions on driving or returning to work afterward. If you have any concerns following your treatment, a doctor is always available for consultation.
. - Pain Management
If you can safely take ibuprofen (Advil) or naproxen sodium (Aleve), we recommend taking two tablets 1 hour before your procedure. This can help reduce inflammation and improve comfort during and after treatment.
