First Visit

Will I Need One Visit or Two?

Patients often ask whether root canal treatment will be completed in one or two appointments. This depends on the specific circumstances of your case.  Our goal is to provide you with the best care possible, tailored to your needs.

  • If the tooth has had previous root canal treatment
We will first schedule a consultation to evaluate the tooth and discuss your treatment options. A second visit is needed should you end up needing treatment.
    .
  • If the tooth has never had root canal treatment
We may be able to provide treatment during your first visit, especially if your referring dentist has determined that root canal therapy is necessary.
    .
  • If you or your dentist are unsure whether root canal treatment is needed
We will schedule a consultation appointment. If treatment is required, it will be completed in a separate follow-up visit.

Please bring the following to your first visit

  • Your referral slip from your dentist, if you have one.
  • A list of your current medications.
  • If you have dental insurance, bring the necessary information.
  • Optionally, you may fill out and submit your patient registration forms online or print them and bring them with you to your first appointment.

Important Medical Information

Please inform our office if you have any medical conditions that could affect your treatment, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, artificial heart valves or joints, or a history of rheumatic fever. Additionally, let us know if you are taking any medications, including heart medications, aspirin, or anticoagulants, or if you require antibiotics before dental cleanings
(pre-medication).

You will complete a medical history form during the registration process, where you can identify these conditions, list any medications, and note any allergies.

X-Rays

While we are happy to review any x-rays forwarded by your dental office, it is not required for your appointment. The x-rays we take in our office are specifically designed to diagnose root canal issues with precision and accuracy.

Unlike the “full-field” CBCT images commonly taken in dental offices, our CBCT images are more focused, providing higher resolution of the specific teeth that may require root canal treatment. This level of detail helps us identify even subtle issues that might otherwise be missed.

We are committed to taking the minimum number of radiographs necessary to ensure an accurate diagnosis while prioritizing your safety and comfort.
